Pineapples are a large oval fruit with rough orange/green skin on the outside and firm yellow flesh on the inside. On the top there is a spout of green leaves that can be plucked to determine if they are ripe to eat (when ripe they are easy to pull out). The flesh is fibrous and sweet to taste. Storage:Pineapples will ripen at room temperature. Once ripe or cut open, store in an air-tight container in the fridge for 2-3 days. Nutrition:Pineapples are high in Vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C. they are an excellent source of Manganese and assist in digestion after a meal. Ideal Use: Pineapples are delicious eaten as is, juiced or cooked. They are highly recommended on homemade hamburgers during the summer.
