Lettuce - Radicchio

Lettuce - Radicchio

Radicchio looks much like a red and white lettuce. It has a strong bitter flavour and is one of the few salad items that can be cooked. Storage: Radicchio can be kept in a damp cloth in the crisper of the fridge for up to one week. Do not store it in plastic or an air-tight container - it will deteriorate quicker. Radicchio needs air to circulate around the leaves. Nutrition: Radicchio is rich in phosphorus and calcium, both great for healthy teeth and bones; as well as Vitamins B and C, making it great for your nervous system and general wellbeing. Ideal Use: Radicchio is great in salads if you prefer a more bitter taste, and also great in cooking (often Italian cooking), such as risottos
