A coconut is a large brown ball shaped fruit. It has a hard bark-like shell, with softer white flesh on the inside and sweet milk that many people enjoy drinking. Storage Coconuts can be stored at room temperature for up to four months. Once open the coconut flesh should be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge and can be kept for approximately 4 days. Nutrition Coconuts are a great boost to your immune system as they have some excellent antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Fresh coconut juice is one of the highest sources of electrolytes making it an excellent hydrator instead of high sugar sports drinks. Ideal Use Coconuts are very versatile. You can drink its milk, you can eat the flesh straight or you can grate the flesh and roll your lamingtons in it. Coconut milk gives a lovely sweetness to a curry and grated coconut is a fine topper to a dessert.
